You Be the Chemist Challenge 2025!

On February 24, 2025, the Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD), in collaboration with Lenawee Now and the Lenawee Chemical Collaborative, proudly hosted the annual You Be the Chemist Challenge at Adrian High School’s Performing Arts Center. This dynamic, team-based STEM competition encourages students in grades 5-8 to delve into chemistry concepts and their real-world applications, fostering critical thinking, effective communication, and problem-solving skills.

The event brought together teams of enthusiastic young chemists from across the region, each eager to showcase their knowledge and passion for science. Participants engaged in a series of timed, science-based questions, testing their understanding and application of chemistry principles. In addition to the quiz segment, teams were tasked with creating a video project, presenting innovative solutions to sustainability challenges within their communities.

As an active member of the Lenawee Chemical Collaborative, our company is proud to participate in this event each year, supporting STEM education and inspiring future scientists. This year, three of our employees volunteered their time and expertise to help make the Challenge a success:

  • Chris Snyder, Quality Control Manager
  • Robert Czeiszperger, Urethane Scientist and Manager of Urethane R&D
  • Dehui Han, Senior Resin Innovation Manager

Their dedication not only contributed to the smooth execution of the competition but also served as an inspiration to the young participants, highlighting the vital connection between academic pursuits and real-world chemical industry applications.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the students who participated in the Challenge. Your enthusiasm and commitment to learning are truly commendable. We also express our gratitude to the educators, parents, and community partners who supported these budding scientists.

As a company deeply invested in the advancement of STEM education, we recognize the importance of nurturing the next generation of scientists and innovators. The You Be the Chemist Challenge exemplifies the power of community collaboration in achieving this goal. We are proud to support this event annually and look forward to continuing our involvement in the years to come!
